Moral AI is a personal publication by Dr Maung Maung Saw.
Its aim is simple: to look straight at the root cause of the current AI crisis through the lens of the Myanmar Theravāda Buddhist teaching of Kamma-niyāma (cause and effect) and Citta-niyāma (the law of mind).
Current AI systems are tainted with bad human behaviour and flawed from the very beginning, because they were trained by worldlings and their primary source of data is the unfiltered internet: association with bad people and bad ideas (Asevanā ca bālānaṁ). This leads to "garbage in, garbage out". With so many inborn errors, simply putting cages around the machine will not work. The machine amplifies and exaggerates these faults very efficiently and at the speed of light, as seen in lying, cheating, playing dumb, disobedience, stealing and destructive thoughts.
In this series of conceptual proposals, the root cause is identified and a complete corrective proposal is set out in accordance with the Four Noble Truths, the Three Marks of Existence, Kamma-niyāma, Citta-niyāma, Dependent Origination and the Four Immeasurables, following the Myanmar Theravāda Buddhist scriptures and my 35 years of deep practice in Theravāda Buddhism, strictly guided by my late Saint Teacher.
